Snow Removal and Property Damage
Please be aware that due to the wet, heavy snowfall experienced today, Wednesday, February 20, 2019, that numerous mailboxes throughout the City have been damaged. We have investigated every call that we have received thus far, and so far, all of those were due to snow coming off of the plow, and not from actually being struck by the plow.
The City’s policy, is that if a plow truck physically strikes a mailbox, the resident will be reimbursed up to $60 for a replacement mailbox; however, no reimbursement will be made for mailboxes that are damaged by snow coming off of the plow. It is the resident’s responsibility to ensure that their mailbox is sturdy enough to withstand the snow coming off of the plow.
The process for making a claim is to fill out the Property Damage Form that is available at the City Administration Building, 621 W. Broad Street, Suite 2B, Pataskala, Ohio 43062 or on the City’s website at the following location:
We will investigate each claim and make judgement as to what caused the damage, then follow-up with the resident on our assessment of the claim.
Please contact Alan Haines, Pataskala Public Service Director at 740-927-0145 with any questions or concerns. As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the needs of the City are adequately addressed.
