Available Bond Options
Cash Bail
The full amount is paid in cash at the Clerk’s office. Cash, Credit or Debit Card accepted. Debit / Credit card owner must be present with I.D. and an additional 4% card processing fee will apply for both credit and debit cards. At the end of the case, the State will be sent the $25 unless the defendant is found not guilty or the case is dismissed. Remaining bail money will next be applied to any outstanding fine & cost and then funds left will be refunded only to the bond depositor. If the defendant fails to appear after posting a bond, a new warrant will be issued with a higher bond and the defendant & depositor from the previously posted bond will be notified in writing that the bond will be forfeited and given a date to show cause (30 days) to the court why it should not be forfeited. If the defendant still does not appear the bond money will be forfeited and the new warrant for failing to appear will remain active until the defendant is arrested or another bond is posted.
Surety Bond
The bonding company and agents must be registered at Pataskala Mayor’s Court and all surety powers, identifications and information current with the State of Ohio and the court. The bonding company can register at the same time as posting the bond as long as they have the needed documents and identification. The bail bondsman will need the $25 in cash for the state fee for each case bond is being posted for. If the defendant fails to appear, the bonding company will be notified in writing that the bond will be forfeited and given a date to show cause (30 days) to the court why it should not be. This date can only be extended by the Magistrate. The bonding company will either arrest the defendant, bring the defendant to the Clerk’s office and post a new bond for the defendant, or bring the defendant into open court, depending on the Magistrate’s instructions. If they cannot do this, the bond will be forfeited and the bonding company will be responsible to pay the court the full amount of the bond. At the end of the case the State will be sent the $25 unless the defendant is found not guilty or the case is dismissed. Any money paid to a bonding company is not refundable.
10% Appearance Bond

Card owner must be present with I.D. and an additional 4% card processing fee will apply. At the end of the case the State will be sent the $25 unless the defendant is found not guilty or the case is dismissed. The court will retain 10% of the actual amount posted. Remaining bail money will next be applied to any outstanding fine & cost and funds left will be refunded only to the bond depositor. If the defendant fails to appear a new warrant will be issued with a higher bond. The defendant & depositor will be notified in writing the bond will be forfeited and given a date to show cause to the court (30 days) why it should not be forfeited. If the defendant still does not appear the bond money will be forfeited and the new warrant for failing to appear will remain active until the defendant is arrested or another bond is posted.
