Utility Bill Assistance
Are you behind on your water and sewer bill? There may be assistance through the State of Ohio available to you. The “Home Relief Grant” is a program that offers assistance to low income households for a variety of financial situations. Some of the assistance offered is for rent, mortgage, and water/sewer bills. This program is very important and beneficial, especially considering the financial hardships that members of our community have faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting November 2, 2020, Ohioans will be able to apply for assistance through their local Community Action Agency. There are several qualifying factors that applicants will have to meet, as well as documentation that will be required as a part of the application. Information regarding this program can be found here: https://businesshelp.ohio.gov/home-relief-grant.html
For members of Licking County, the program will run through the LEADS center at 159 Wilson Street in Newark, OH 43055. They can be reached at (740) 349-8606 or by email at tboehm@leadscaa.org. I would encourage interested customers to reach out to the LEADS center with any questions that you may have regarding the program and how to apply.
Although we at the Utility Department are very excited to share this program with you, we are in no way affiliated with it. As such, all interactions regarding the implementation of this program will remain the responsibility of the customer and the LEADS center.
If you have a question or a comment, please call: The Utilities Department at 740-964-6275.
