The City of Pataskala wishes all of you a Happy New Year. Last year proved to be a very busy one for city business. We had some successes and also some challenges that we worked through.
I am excited about the start of a new year. This year will be just as busy, if not busier, than 2018. Projects that will be undertaken this year include the annual streets improvements program, Oak Meadow Drive reconstruction project and drainage improvements, pedestrian access and safety improvements at the intersection of SR310 North and Broad Street, completion of the Mink Street reconstruction project, and the replacement of culverts on Columbia Road and Mill Street.
The Utilities Department will have another busy year maintaining our water and wastewater systems. In addition to routine maintenance, the department will work to clean a couple of the water towers. Also, work will continue to design necessary upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant.
From a facilities standpoint, the Pataskala Police Department will move into their newly constructed, and long overdue, new station. The move will occur in early spring 2019. The new station is being constructed behind the City Administration Building on Broad Street. The new station will provide a safe facility for the department to operate out of. Once open, we plan to hold an open house so the public can tour the new facility. Additionally, once the Police Department moves of out their current location in the Old Town Hall on Main Street, electricity improvements will be made to the facility. Ultimately, our Utilities Billing Department will move from the City Administration Building to the Old Town Hall.
I look forward to our Parks Department working to offer additional community events and opportunities. We are planning to hold 3 outdoor movie events in 2019. We will be advertising new events throughout the year.
This is just a brief summary of what to expect in 2019. I am excited for this new year and to begin these projects. I will provide additional information about specific projects in future posts.
